The Royal Oak is a traditional village pub situated a couple of miles from East Bergholt village centre, in the little settlement of East End. Run by Tony and Jenny Raymond, it is well known for the very friendly atmosphere. With just one bar and a small lounge for non-smokers, no television, no music, just good conversation, "The Dicky" will appeal to those who hunger for a real English Public House.
The pub is set in beautiful countryside with excellent views, there is ample parking although many regulars choose to bike.
The pub has two quiz teams and darts, crib and domino teams and has also developed a reputation for raising money for various local good causes.
Tony and Jenny organise regular activities for their customers which have recently included a mass bike ride, a trip to Dublin and of course the infamous pram race.
East Bergholt is only just in Suffolk, near to the border with Essex, and being a central part of the wonderful Constable countryside a visit to the nearby Flatford Mill is very popular with tourists. Constable is said to have met his wife in the village Church.
